평가 지표 중 교원당 학생 비율 세계 211위 ․ 지속 가능성 세계 355위 달성

경북대학교가 영국 글로벌 대학평가 기관인 QS가 발표한 ‘2027 QS 세계대학평가’에서 세계 481위를 기록했다고 18일 밝혔다. 경북대는 전년 대비 38계단 상승하며 세계 400위대로 올라섰다. 국내 대학 중에서는 15위를 차지했다.

올해 QS 세계대학평가에는 전 세계 8,808개 대학이 참여했으며, 이 가운데 1,504개 대학의 순위가 발표됐다. 국내에서는 총 43개 대학이 순위에 포함됐다. 평가 지표는 학계 평판도(30%), 교원당 논문 피인용 수(20%), 교원당 학생 비율(10%), 기업계 평판도(15%), 지속 가능성(5%) 등 9개 부문으로 구성됐다.

경북대는 평가 지표 중 교원당 학생 비율 부문에서 세계 211위, 지속 가능성 부문에서 세계 355위를 차지했다. 특히 학계 평판도와 교원당 논문 피인용 수, 외국인 학생 비율 등에서 지표 점수가 상승하며 종합 순위 상승을 이끈 것으로 분석됐다.

앞서 경북대는 올해 3월 발표된 ‘2026 QS 세계대학평가 전공별 순위’에서도 석유공학 분야가 세계 51~100위권에, 농학 및 임학 분야에서도 세계 151~200위권에 오르는 성과를 거둔 바 있다.

허영우 경북대 총장은 “이번 성과는 글로벌 무대에서 경북대의 경쟁력이 지속적으로 강화되고 있음을 보여주는 결과이다. 앞으로도 글로벌 학술협력 네트워크를 확대하고 연구·교육 역량을 지속적으로 강화해 세계 수준의 연구중심대학으로 도약하는 데 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.

The university ranks 211th worldwide in Faculty-Student Ratio and 355th in Sustainability

Kyungpook National University announced on June 18th that it ranked 481st globally in the "2027 QS World University Rankings," published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a global higher education evaluation agency based in the UK. KNU successfully climbed into the world's top 400s by rising 38 places compared to the previous year. Among domestic universities in South Korea, KNU secured the 15th position.

A total of 8,808 universities worldwide participated in this year's QS World University Rankings, with the individual rankings of 1,504 institutions being officially published. In South Korea, 43 universities made the list. The evaluation framework comprises nine distinct metrics, including Academic Reputation (30%), Citations per Faculty (20%), Faculty-Student Ratio (10%), Employer Reputation (15%), and Sustainability (5%).

Among individual evaluation metrics, KNU ranked 211th globally for its Faculty-Student Ratio and 355th for Sustainability. Analysts attribute the comprehensive rise in overall ranking to noticeable score improvements in Academic Reputation, Citations per Faculty, and the International Student Ratio.

Prior to this milestone, KNU also delivered strong performances in the "2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject" released this past March. In those rankings, KNU's Petroleum Engineering program placed in the top 51–100 tier globally, while Agriculture & Forestry placed within the top 151–200 tier worldwide.

KNU President Young-Woo Heo remarked, "This achievement clearly demonstrates that KNU's core competitiveness is steadily strengthening on the global stage. We will remain fully committed to expanding our global academic collaboration networks and consistently reinforcing our research and educational capabilities to leap forward as a world-class, research-centered university."
